Secure Print Release

Secure print release is a common requirement for most organisations. PaperCut provides a simple solution that places jobs in a holding state until the user authenticates and releases the job at the printer or multi-functional device (MFD). Users may select individual jobs to release or have jobs automatically print after successful authentication. This tackles common problems such as paper and toner wastage when jobs are forgotten or not collected. It also removes the security risk of sensitive or confidential jobs being left on the printer or MFD.

There are various ways you can choose to authenticate and release print or copy jobs:

  1. Embedded Software (PaperCut MF Only)
  2. Release via Hardware Terminals (PaperCut MF Only)
  3. Software Release Stations (PaperCut NG & PaperCut MF)

Embedded Software

PaperCut embedded software provides print release functionality integrating directly with MFDs. This provides a seamless user experience as users login to the MFD using the LCD touch screen or security card readers. The PaperCut embedded solution is cost effective as it does not require the use of hardware terminals. Embedded software is available for the major MFD brands including: Ricoh, HP, Toshiba, Konica-Minolta, Kyocera Mita, Xerox, Lexmark, and Sharp (with more in development). In addition to print release, these solutions also track and control copying, scanning and faxing. For devices that do not support an embedded software platform similar features are available through hardware terminals connected to the MFD.

Release via Hardware Terminals

ITS offers a range of hardware terminals that can form part of an integrated print and copy solution providing copier control, secure print release functionality or both as required. Our range of hardware terminals have been selected based on over 20 years’ experience of serving the print and copy management market. They all provide reliable performance and value for money with a consistent interface regardless of the MFD brands you may have in place.

Software Release Stations

PaperCut also offers a software based release station that can be installed on any low-end PC or workstation which provides a full print release solution. Software release stations are an effective solution for print rooms and can be extremely cost-effective when spare or unused workstation hardware is used.
